| Candesartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Candesartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. This medication is also used to treat heart failure. This medication is not recommended for use in children younger than 1 year due to increased risk of side effects. | Add Atacand review Only my systolic is ever high. I take no other meds. Usually 128/60 Pulse 60. on medication. Off=150/60 or sometimes systolic is higher. Tried to get by on 16 but need 32 and take it at night. Other meds for BP were awful. Can't take diuretics, K falls too low and get cramps. Pain seems to make my B.P high. Have arthritis. I've been on Atacand plus 16mg for only 3 months and have notice joint pain in my hands, whether this is due to the drug or not can not say for sure. It has been effective in getting my blood pressure back to we're it should been. Must admit a little worried reading other comments that users may have obtained liver & kidney damage due to this medication, will be speaking to my GP about this when I see him next month for a follow up visit. | Add Losartan review dose increased from 25mg to 50mg My neighbor was having problems with another BP med and the DR changed her to Losartin. Within 10 days she developed giant hives, nausea and her BP was so low she almost died. She was in the hospital for 4 days in intensive care. Went home and then was readmitted with sepsis. She has a pacemaker and artificial valve - prayers that this is all reversible. Dr.started me out on 25mg. It did nothing and my BP was 140/95, raised dosage to 50mg. Made me very tired so I took at night. Still high readins of 140/92, or 90. Dr. raised to 100 mg. The first time I took 100 mg, I hde a severe headache...flet like sinus headache. Went from bad to worse, felt like I as geing a sinus infection...headache horrible. Stoped taking nd went back to the dr. Too ... this medication did not work as well as previously used medications at first but after a month it was a little more effective, I experienced head aches, strange taste and elevated kidney functioning. I have experienced severe leg and feet cramps, and headaches with this medicine. | |||
