Cervidil vs Cytotec

CervidilCervidil CytotecCytotec
This medication is used to help prepare your cervix (the lower opening of the womb) for labor and delivery. It is used in women who are having a normal pregnancy and who are at or near their delivery due date. Dinoprostone is a natural substance that your body makes in preparation for labor. It relaxes and softens your cervix (cervical ripening) to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal during delivery. This medication is used to prevent stomach ulcers while you take NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen), especially if you are at risk for developing ulcers or have a history of ulcers. Misoprostol helps to decrease your risk of serious ulcer complications such as bleeding. This medication protects your stomach lining by lowering the amount of acid that comes in contact with it. This medication is also used in combination with another drug (mifepristone) to end a pregnancy (abortion).

We ended up with a c-section anyway. Im sure it doesnt work on all. It seems the baby has outbursts almost every night around the time of cervidil use. He is now 3yrs old. Post traumatic stress or coincidence? Would not recommend.

I was given this to "ripen" my cervix for my first time pregnancy. I was hyper responsive to it and I too could not urinate. At the time I was also given Ambien to help me sleep, but the combination just made me hyper and groggy. I am very sensitive to all medications. The Cervidil was removed 5 hours later and my cervix never did get to the stage need to begin labor. The ease of the medication was great, it was just that I was not ready.

Got pregnant and was prescribed Cytotec to avoid surgical intervention. Bought it over the counter in a country where abortion is illegal. Started taking 2 pills x 200mg vaginally every 4 to 6 hours. Nothing happened for as much as 36 hours and after about 16 pills. Except for acute cramping, diarrhoea, the egg was still intact in my uterus as shown in the echography. I stopped taking the pill on Thursday at noon, depressed and worried that I would have to go through the surgery anyway. But at night around midnight, I started bleeding and it lasted for few days, just like heavier than normal period. It was longer than we thought but ended up working ok.
