Flecainide vs Sotalol

FlecainideFlecainide SotalolSotalol
This medication is used to treat certain types of serious (possibly fatal) irregular heartbeat (such as persistent ventricular tachycardia and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia). It is used to restore normal heart rhythm and maintain a regular, steady heartbeat. It is also used to prevent certain types of irregular heartbeat from returning (such as atrial fibrillation). Flecainide is known as an anti-arrhythmic drug. It works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart that can cause an irregular heartbeat. Treating an irregular heartbeat can decrease the risk for blood clots, and this effect can reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke. This medication is used to treat a serious (possibly life-threatening) type of fast heartbeat called sustained ventricular tachycardia. It is also used to treat certain fast/irregular heartbeats (atrial fibrillation/flutter) in patients with severe symptoms such as weakness and shortness of breath. Sotalol helps to lessen these symptoms. It slows the heart rate and helps the heart to beat more normally and regularly. This medication is both a beta blocker and an anti-arrhythmic.

Was not getting good relief until I started taking 3 per day, results are better, though I cannot miss a dose for even 15 minutes.

Just started this drug 2 months ago. Very happy with the results. Minimal side effects initially which are now gone. No Afib at all. Also take Losartin and Triamterene for blood pressure and Xarelto for blood clots since I cannot take aspirin.

My afib was rare and sports induced until made worse by adrenalen. Sleep apnea was a bigger but related problem. Sotalol reduced me to 40 BPM. I can no longer run or walk fast or exercise stenuously. I am unable to exercise enough to reduce my weight. This is a catch 22 so I am inclined to wean off the drug until AFIB recurs. I think my AFIB and sleep apnea would largely go away if my weight were less. Comments appreciated.

I get tired on occasion; however, it has completely stopped my AFib.
