I've been on this med for a little over a year. I'm very satisfied with it. It puts me to sleep at night, it keeps me calm during the day. At first I did feel sleepy but about after a week I felt fine.

This is the absolute worst medication I have ever been prescribed. I have every side effect in the book and I've only been on it for two weeks. Gained five pounds in two weeks! GEODON HAS BEEN A GOOD DRUG. HOWEVER , IT IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR HEART IS TOLERATING THIS MEDICINE AS IT CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. KEEP UP WITH YOUR DOCTORS TAKE AN E.K.G. IF POSSIBLE. I TOLERATE MUCH BETTER AFTER TAKING A LOWER DOSE. A GOOD DRUG. BE CAREFUL.

my 77 year old mother suffering from dementia was given Haldol in a 5-star-rated nursing home in NC without our knowledge. She entered the facility fully ambulatory, continent, and able to eat well. Two weeks later, in diapers, unable to walk or feed herself, and 9 pounds lighter. Also shakes constantly. Staff just said she had a bad reaction. Truth: given a drug not approved for elderly dementia, and they overdosed her. Waiting to see if she will recover. So sad this is STILL being done, even in well-respected, church-run facilities.
