L-thyroxine vs Levoxyl

L-thyroxineL-thyroxine LevoxylLevoxyl
Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. Having enough thyroid hormone is important for maintaining normal mental and physical activity. In children, having enough thyroid hormone is important for normal mental and physical development. This medication is also used to treat other types of thyroid disorders (such as certain types of goiters, thyroid cancer). This medication should not be used to treat infertility unless it is caused by low thyroid hormone levels.Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). My Dr prescribed 25Mcg dose after a routine blood work revealed underactive thyroid. To my knowledge I had no symptoms whatsoever. After taking for a month my Dr said my thyroid levels were back up to normal. Still, I have no symptoms or signs of anything improving and no side effects. For all I know, I might as well be taking sugar pills but since it is very cheap to purchase I will continue to take it.

When I went to the doctor I was obese and my thyroid was underactive. The doctor put me on 88mcg of L-Thyroxine. It kept changing until I learned from a nurse to take it 1 to 2 hours before eating. My medication has been at 50 mcg for 2 years now and I have lost from almost 200 pounds to 135. I am very pleased with this medication and have no side effects from it.

Thyroid problem for 21 yrs. Levoxyl worked well. I was nervous about switching when Levoxyl was pulled from the market. Now taking Synthroid for one week, seems to be ok so far. Can't take Generic because it causes lot of complications and my system doesn't absorb it.
