The infection persisted. Then I took it again 2x day for 10 days plus 1x day for a month. I am now being switched to Bactrim & hoping for better results. Have had massive hair loss on this medication! I ended up at urgent care after 3 doses of Macrobid. Dr. thought I had Pancreatitis, a gall bladder issue or was passing a kidney stone. The right side under my rib caused me unbelievable pain, which is why I sought a doctor's care. After blood tests, ultrasound and x-rays, they found nothing wrong with me, however, they did tell me to go off the pills. Too late. I quit after 3. I spent 3 days ... WAS PUT ONTO MACRODANTIN JUST OVER 1 YEAR AGO AND NOW TAKE 100MG EVERY SECOND DAY. HAVE NOT HAD A BLADDER INFECTION SINCE. I am shocked and so sad for the pain this drug has caused so many. This drug saved me from a UTI. No antibiotic worked for my UTI. So I was sent to urinary specialist and he gave me this medicine to take for infection, about a 10 day cycle at 3 pills a day and then put me on a maintenance dose for prevention when I had intercourse. I stayed on prevention for about a year using only after intercourse. It worked very well for me. Never had a side effect at all. I'm glad I read these reviews cause my sister has been having UTI she can't get rid of and she's 69 and a heart patient and I was going to recommend this to her to ask her Doc about trying.
