Ondansetron vs Reglan

OndansetronOndansetron ReglanReglan
This medication is used alone or with other medications to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer drug treatment (chemotherapy) and radiation therapy. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting after surgery. It works by blocking one of the body's natural substances (serotonin) that causes vomiting.Reglan is used to treat certain conditions of the stomach and intestines. Metoclopramide is used as a short-term treatment (4 to 12 weeks) for persistent heartburn when the usual medicines do not work well enough. It is used mostly for heartburn that occurs after a meal or during the daytime. Treating persistent heartburn can decrease the damage done by stomach acid to the swallowing tube (esophagus) and help healing.

While using this drug, I am still nauseated and vomiting. I was currently taking promethazine but my Doctor switched me to ondansetron. I am waiting for a call back from my Doctor to switch me back.

Was taking the round pill and had some of the ones that dissolve in your mouth, both worked well. Just got a new refill and now it's oval in shape and does NOT work as well. It is probably an insurance perference. I am fed up with people who are capable of using a computer and filing claims taking charge of my health care. I hope they like the bills when I end up in er and hosp. stay because they are allowed to be doctors. It's time we all stood up to these people and demand the best available care in aspects of our health care needs.

After taking this medication a number of years ago, my mother has now been diagnosed with Parkinson's dementia. The neurologist seems to think it was most probably brought on by Reglan use.

My wife has been taking Reglan for 6 weeks. Now she suffered from depression, axiety, insomnia, dry mouth and weight loss. She has stop taking Reglan for two weeks now and the side effects still there. It's a horriable medicine and should be off the market. Don't use Reglan.

DO NOT take this drug. It crosses the blood-brain barrier which causes neurological problems. I experienced tardive dyskenesia: twitching of muscles in my face, mouth, feet. The foot twitching has lasted years. I became depressed and unable to function normally. INSTEAD, take DOMPERIDONE, which does NOT cross the blood-brain barrier. You can get it from Canada. It works GREAT with NO side effects ...
