This combination medication is used along with a proper diet to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. Ezetimibe works by reducing the amount of cholesterol your body absorbs from your diet. Simvastatin belongs to a group of drugs known as "statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking. Consult your doctor for more details. Lowering "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and raising "good" cholesterol decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.Simvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. Been taking it about 3 years, Zocor before that. Vytorin is lots more effective. Feel weakness and fog but attributed it to my age, 78. Might be a side effect. I'm OK with it. Going to try Simvistatin and Ezetimibe in separate tablets. Should get the same effect at less cost.

Medicine has reduced my cholestrol level, however, I do have muscle problems with my legs. The muscle problem is minor most of the time.

Although, I wasn't sure what med was causing it as I was placed on Zocor, a bloood thinner and BP meds at the same time. Six months later, after fighting the cognitive issues, I developed pain in my feeet and ankles that progressed up my legs about 4 to 6 inches per day. On the ...
