| Pioglitazone is an anti-diabetic drug (thiazolidinedione-type, also called "glitazones") used along with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes). It works by helping to restore your body's proper response to insulin, thereby lowering your blood sugar. | Rosiglitazone is an anti-diabetic drug (thiazolidinedione-type, also called "glitazones") used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes). You should only begin taking rosiglitazone when other drugs have not worked well or cannot be taken, and you do not wish to take pioglitazone-containing medications. If you are currently taking rosiglitazone and have good control of your blood sugars and no new side effects/symptoms, continue to take this drug as directed. Ask your doctor promptly about the risks and benefits of this drug, since a small number of people have had serious side effects (see Warning Section). After November 18, 2011, only patients enrolled in the Avandia-Rosiglitazone Medicines Access Program may obtain and use rosiglitazone-containing products. Your doctor will need to register you with this program before you can receive your prescription. Only physicians enrolled in the Avandia-Rosiglitazone Medicines Access Program may prescribe rosiglitazone-containing products, and only certified mail-order pharmacies enrolled in the program may dispense them. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more details about the program. Rosiglitazone works by helping to restore your body's proper response to insulin, thereby lowering your blood sugar. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. | Add Actos review i have experionced conjestive heart failer, i have a stint, i now have a cancer on my kidney and problems with my kidney. swelling of hands and feet.weakness,and sleepyness. I am a long term user of Actos ad have suffered from Fluid Retention,Extreme weight gain and shortness of breath. After reading these reviews I am looking to replace this drug urgently even though my A1c is consistantly excellent the side effects are to great. Have been on Actos for 9 years, metformin on and off. glucose first decreased and has slowly increased over past years. Have to many symtoms / problems, weight gain, depression, dizzyness, nausea to narrow to one med ???? could be the statin or blood pressure meds. | Add Avandia review after taking avandia for approx. 5 months, I developed cirrossis of the liver and am now awaiting for a liver transplant. while taking avandia I gained 50 to 60 pounds and developed excess body fluid all over my body. I have joined a lawsuit against glaxo smith kline. it has kept my glucose levels normal for 5 years I just stopped Avandia and switched,by Dr. to ACTOS. Blood sugar numbers were erratic without any reason, though overall dropped a bit. Problems with possible potassium retention causing multiple leg cramps, sometimes several times/day. Very concerned about FDA reports even though Dr. dismissed them as "rumor" and "bad research." | |||
