Atorvastatin vs Rosuvastatin

AtorvastatinAtorvastatin RosuvastatinRosuvastatin
Atorvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It belongs to a group of drugs known as "statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Lowering "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and raising "good" cholesterol decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks. In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking. Yes, it dramatically reduced the numbers for my bad cholesterol, HOWEVER...after a year of usage I was having mental confusion in mornings, pale stools, constipation and extreme tiredness. My Dr. discarded any of these symptoms as related to Lipitor(atorvastatin). However, when I spoke with someone else , having same symptoms, I stopped the drug. Within 3 months, all is back to normal. Haven't had blood work yet. Very disturbing!

I have been taking atorvastatin (Lipitor) for several years now, and have had no problems at all. My cholesterol has stayed low the entire time I have been taking this medication.

Loss of memory, confusion, couldn't follow in-structions about simple things. Was a different person in every aspect. Went off of it for two days and memory has improved, but some confusion remains. Had taken for 6 months and got worse with the symtoms listed. continually during that time.

I just got rejected by my drug company. They want me to try a generic brand of cholesterol reducing medicine. There is no generic for Crestor. This has worked for me. I don't want to change because of the possible side effects from using other drugs. I have not had any side effects using Crestor. So in other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The drug companies need to leave us alone and let us lead as healthy lives as possible.
