Budesonide vs Mometasone

BudesonideBudesonide MometasoneMometasone
This medication is used to treat certain bowel conditions (such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis). While budesonide does not cure these conditions, it may decrease symptoms such as pain and diarrhea. Budesonide is an anti-inflammatory drug (corticosteroid hormone). It works by decreasing the body's natural defense response (immune response).Mometasone is used to control and prevent symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma. This medication must be used regularly to be effective. It does not work immediately and should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks. If an asthma attack occurs, use your quick-relief inhaler (such as albuterol, also called salbutamol in some countries) as prescribed. Mometasone belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing the irritation and swelling of the airways. Controlling symptoms of breathing problems can decrease time lost from work or school.

I take this for my ulcerative colitis, nothing else has ever helped my symptoms of chronic diahrea. Im so blessed to live normally again.

I had microscopic colitis, which was mis-diagnosed as IBS for 10+ years. What a relief to have gotten the new diagnosis, with an actual treatment plan! I have been taking budesonide for over a year. My face is a little bit puffy, I've had a little facial hair growth, but its all worth not running to the bathroom all day long!

I feel much better and I am worried when I have to stop taking this medication. The only problem is it makes my heart pound and my ankles have swelled.
