I was treated for a couple of weeks on this medication. I had been having chronic urinary tract infections which had been treated by oral antibiotics including ciprofloxacin, keflex and septra ds. They were effective only for a short period of time and once I was off of these meds the infection would come back. I even had several weeks of gentamycin bladder irrigation which was unsucessful. I have been off this IV medication now for several weeks and I have not had any more symptoms of a bladder infection. I am estatic because I have been having bladder infections for a few years now and I was worried it might never be cured. But it looks like ertapenem did the job and I am very happy with this medication. I had no side effects. The only thing that bothered me was the dressing I had to use to cover my midline. It was very irritating.

This is a very powerful antibodie and is very effective. I have Cystic Fibrosis and have developed a drug reaction to almost every antibiotic there is, the only problem with this drug use is it is a drug you have to mix just prior to taking in an I.V. so be prepaired when using this during home health treatment. Usual treatment for this medication is 14 to 21 days 3 times a day round the clock.
