Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. Having enough thyroid hormone is important for maintaining normal mental and physical activity. In children, having enough thyroid hormone is important for normal mental and physical development. This medication is also used to treat other types of thyroid disorders (such as certain types of goiters, thyroid cancer). This medication should not be used to treat infertility unless it is caused by low thyroid hormone levels.

After total thyroidectomy, i was taking 50mcg and still has high Tsh, i was given 100mcg and resulted to a 0.02 tsh which is very low, now i am taking 75mcg which is not easy as there was no 75mcg available so i have to take one 25 and one 50. When i took 100 my sleepyness is gone, not sensitive to cold temp anymore but i experienced palpitation. Hopefully 75 will give me a better condition....will see after 3 ,omths

I VE BEEN ON EUTHYROX 25 MICROGRAMS FOR 2 YEARS. LATERLY I AM SO FATIGUE .NO ENERGY. VERY HIGH ANF BLOODRESULT. IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF THE DRUG CAUSING IT? I HAVE A SLIGH IRRATATING PERSISTING COUGH FOR 2 MONTHS. VOICE GETTING SOMETIME HOARSE.

I am concerned that perscription lable says "Do not skip doses or discontinue" Why??????????????????? I have only taken one dose, just started. Am concerned about continuing.

I still cant loose weight I have changed my lifestyle and everything. my numbers are good so I cant complain a lot. I have a hugely swollen thyroid. so im assuming surgery is my next step.

What people have to accept is when your body is no longer able to make it's own natural hormone such as thyroid then you enter an arena of comprise. I have found through trial and error what works for me but it has taken about four years........ I now take thyroxin last thing at night every night and at 110lbs & 5:4' I have found 100mcg work ...
