Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. What people have to accept is when your body is no longer able to make it's own natural hormone such as thyroid then you enter an arena of comprise. I have found through trial and error what works for me but it has taken about four years........ I now take thyroxin last thing at night every night and at 110lbs & 5:4' I have found 100mcg work ...

Thyroid problem for 21 yrs. Levoxyl worked well. I was nervous about switching when Levoxyl was pulled from the market. Now taking Synthroid for one week, seems to be ok so far. Can't take Generic because it causes lot of complications and my system doesn't absorb it.
