Methotrexate vs Plaquenil

MethotrexateMethotrexate PlaquenilPlaquenil
Methotrexate is used to treat certain types of cancer or to control severe psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis. This medication works by interfering with cell growth and by suppressing the immune system. Early treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with more aggressive therapy such as methotrexate helps to reduce further joint damage and to preserve joint function.Hydroxychloroquine is used to prevent or treat malaria infections caused by mosquito bites. It does not work against certain types of malaria (chloroquine-resistant). The United States Center for Disease Control provides updated guidelines and travel recommendations for the prevention and treatment of malaria in different parts of the world. Discuss the most recent information with your doctor before traveling to areas where malaria occurs.

For SLE. Took a good 5 months to really work, but has really helped pleuritis and joint swelling. Some problems with vivid dreams and stomach issues at first. Dreams calming down and stomach issues are gone now.
