| Bactrim is a combination of two antibiotics: sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is also used to prevent and treat a certain type of pneumonia (pneumocystis-type). | This medication is used to treat or prevent certain urinary tract infections. This medication is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness. | Add Bactrim review E.choli skin rash. I've been on Bactrim for 12 out of 14 days. Rash was starting to get better but now is getting worse. Only side effects have been gas and some constipation. I was started on this antibiotic to treat Impetigo. I'm currently half way through the treatment, and the only side effect I'm experiencing is appetite loss which isn't much to complain about. So far it seems to be helping clear up the affected area and decrease swelling. On the upside, it has also cleared up most of my acne on my face and including my back. Overall I'm satisfied with my doctors c ... I have used Bactrim in the past with no side effects, taking it at bedtime, for adult acne. This time however, I took it for 3 nights and had insomnia until about 3 am. Insomnia is a rare side effect for this rx. I might be able to tolerate it if I took it in the morning instead, but haven't tried yet. I have been on a 10 day course of Bactrim DS for an infected knee cyst. I experienced mild nausea and headache if I took the meds on an empty stomach but otherwise temperature regulation (chills/sweating) was the only side effect I experienced.I did take Align probiotics once a day to combat those "other" side effects. I took this medication for a large abscess on my arm. I took this medication with a B vitamin complex, which I read can drastically reduce the side effects (a B9 vitamin supplement is what you need, folic acid). . I have been told when taking antibiotics, it's good to help replenish the natural bacteria in the gut with a probiotic, so I'm going to be taking a probiotic along with B9 at lunchtim ... | Add Macrodantin review HAVE HAD RECURRENT CYSTITIS FOR 30 YEARS. WAS PUT ONTO MACRODANTIN JUST OVER 1 YEAR AGO AND NOW TAKE 100MG EVERY SECOND DAY. HAVE NOT HAD A BLADDER INFECTION SINCE. I am shocked and so sad for the pain this drug has caused so many. This drug saved me from a UTI. No antibiotic worked for my UTI. So I was sent to urinary specialist and he gave me this medicine to take for infection, about a 10 day cycle at 3 pills a day and then put me on a maintenance dose for prevention when I had intercourse. I stayed on prevention for about a year using only after intercourse. It worked very well for me. Never had a side effect at all. I'm glad I read these reviews cause my sister has been having UTI she can't get rid of and she's 69 and a heart patient and I was going to recommend this to her to ask her Doc about trying. Now I don't think I'll do that. I took mine in the 1980's. No problem. But I don't want to risk my sister having any of these side effects. Guess I was just fortunate it worked so well for me. | |||
