| This medication is a beta-blocker used to treat chest pain (angina), heart failure, and high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This drug works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body (such as epinephrine) that affect the heart and blood vessels. This lowers heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart. | Add Metoprolol review Med. worked great at first when other b.p. meds failed, this doesn't make me light headed, however the side effects creeped up over time like no sex drive, weight gain, hair loss and tire easily. All extreme opposite of who I am! Started on 25mg within 2 years now 100mg twice a day. After taking this for several months my BP was still 130's over 80's. Had terrible swelling in hands and feet. The wheezing was so bad I couldn't sleep at night. Terrible muscle pain and shortness of breath. Doctor changed me Lisinopril and the difference is amazing! BP 120's over 70's and feel so 100% better! Thought I would try the generic Toprol XL again due to not having insurance. What a big mistake. Tried it before and it gave me Asthma. Now after taking it for a month I developed major constipation and chest congestion. So now I'm having to bite the bullet and go back to the real Toprol XL. The difference of the generic verses the non-generic is un-freakin real! | Add Sotalol review My afib was rare and sports induced until made worse by adrenalen. Sleep apnea was a bigger but related problem. Sotalol reduced me to 40 BPM. I can no longer run or walk fast or exercise stenuously. I am unable to exercise enough to reduce my weight. This is a catch 22 so I am inclined to wean off the drug until AFIB recurs. I think my AFIB and sleep apnea would largely go away if my weight were less. Comments appreciated. I get tired on occasion; however, it has completely stopped my AFib. I spent 4 days in the hospital to start on this medication had a tee and cardio version on the 4th day and came home and still no problems ..i am satisfied with my doctors choice of treatment. | |||
