Dronedarone vs Sotalol

DronedaroneDronedarone SotalolSotalol
This medication is used by people with a history of certain types of irregular heartbeat (paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation). It helps to reduce the risk of going to the hospital for atrial fibrillation. Dronedarone is known as an antiarrhythmic drug. This medication should not be used by people with a certain type of irregular heartbeat (permanent atrial fibrillation) due to the increased risk of serious side effects. This medication is used to treat a serious (possibly life-threatening) type of fast heartbeat called sustained ventricular tachycardia. It is also used to treat certain fast/irregular heartbeats (atrial fibrillation/flutter) in patients with severe symptoms such as weakness and shortness of breath. Sotalol helps to lessen these symptoms. It slows the heart rate and helps the heart to beat more normally and regularly. This medication is both a beta blocker and an anti-arrhythmic.

My afib was rare and sports induced until made worse by adrenalen. Sleep apnea was a bigger but related problem. Sotalol reduced me to 40 BPM. I can no longer run or walk fast or exercise stenuously. I am unable to exercise enough to reduce my weight. This is a catch 22 so I am inclined to wean off the drug until AFIB recurs. I think my AFIB and sleep apnea would largely go away if my weight were less. Comments appreciated.

I get tired on occasion; however, it has completely stopped my AFib.
