Rythmol vs Sotalol

This medication is used to treat certain types of serious (possibly fatal) irregular heartbeat (such as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation). It is used to restore normal heart rhythm and maintain a regular, steady heartbeat. Propafenone is known as an anti-arrhythmic drug. It works by blocking the activity of certain electrical signals in the heart that can cause an irregular heartbeat. Treating an irregular heartbeat can decrease the risk for blood clots, and this effect can reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke. This medication is used to treat a serious (possibly life-threatening) type of fast heartbeat called sustained ventricular tachycardia. It is also used to treat certain fast/irregular heartbeats (atrial fibrillation/flutter) in patients with severe symptoms such as weakness and shortness of breath. Sotalol helps to lessen these symptoms. It slows the heart rate and helps the heart to beat more normally and regularly. This medication is both a beta blocker and an anti-arrhythmic.

After being put on Rythmol, cardizem, and Eliquis for symtoms of moderate to severe dizziness, angina, high blood pressure and history of blood clots my dizziness has not only persisted but gotten worse. Palpitations however, have decreased. Curious to know anyone else having problems with the dizzies?

I have had many years of in and out of Atrial Fibrillation and many cardio conversion and two ablation. My medicine was changed 3 months ago and have not had any spells even in anxiety situations. I have been on Flecainide for several years but now on Rythmol. Also I was taken of the Beta Blockers and put on Verapamil. This combination has worked well with me. I do have side effects from the Rythmol like blurred vision, water retention, muscle pain and constipation. I guess I have to accept the side effects to have relief from Atrial Fibrillation.

Having A-Fib for 14 years and trying all sorts of other remedies and drugs, Rythmol was the only one that corrected my ongoing A-Fib issue. However, you must stay on a steady, timed course with this drug....but like everything else this drug may or may not work for your condition...to each his own

My afib was rare and sports induced until made worse by adrenalen. Sleep apnea was a bigger but related problem. Sotalol reduced me to 40 BPM. I can no longer run or walk fast or exercise stenuously. I am unable to exercise enough to reduce my weight. This is a catch 22 so I am inclined to wean off the drug until AFIB recurs. I think my AFIB and sleep apnea would largely go away if my weight were less. Comments appreciated.

I get tired on occasion; however, it has completely stopped my AFib.
